Hello, My name is Mary Tommelleo and I live in New Castle, PA about 2 blocks uphill from the Mahoning River and the Beaver River. In Edinburgh, PA, about a 15 minute drive from my home is where the skeletal remains and objects of the Mound people were excavated. Since I live very close to the Mahoning River and I have found many arrow heads in my back yard I am very interested in the American Indian culture around my home. I have a feeling that there are many more sites that have not been explores or taught to the children that live right where the great hunters used to roam. Please send me as much information if you can on this area involving the culture of the first people to live and hunt here. As a matter of facts the first white settlers were called the Moravians, a religious group that were sent here to convert the Americans here first. My email is mtommelleo@MSN.com. I would greatly appreciate some history if you have it. Thank You’ Mary Tommelleo Date: Tue, 1 Sep 2015 14:58:51 +0000 To: mtommelleo@msn.com

I’ve heard all my life that my grandfather’s maternal grandmother was a full-blooded “Indian” named Sally Bass. But no one has been able to track down any details. I joined Ancestry.com and have spent hours and hours searching but I can’t find anything there or anywhere else about the lady. Granddaddy’s grandmother was Lenora Wood Russell so her father’s last name must have been Wood but I can’t find him either. I’d love any suggestions about how to find any information.
